x 425-hp mercruiser mag captain's report complete package"bajas 35 outlaw combines amenities, more room, and added power to deliver a complete high-performance boat". by capt. bob smith the all-new baja 35 outlaw replaces the 36 outlaw, which has been in the line for many years. baja engineers took some of the best features of the 40 outlaw and combined it with the styling of the 30 to create something really different. its a great step up for those 29, 30, and 33 owners looking for more power, room, and functionality.when stepping up to the boat from the docks it is obvious baja has spent many days in the wind tunnel perfecting the design that delivers the least resistance to the wind and waves so you can slice through the chop with ease. the bow has pull-up cleats for a clean deck when underway. the anchor locker has plenty of room for the anchor and lines. and if you want relax up on the bow and enjoy the sun. an aluminum bow rail runs all the way back to the low profile acrylic windshield. there are molded-in steps leading from the bow, which help you get back and forth to the cockpit. helm featuresour test boat featured the 35th anniversary edition package which upgrades the dash, among other great touches. performance controls are split with the shifters to the left of the custom black satin finished sport wheel. throttles are to the right with optional trim indicators above. livorsi gauges with red night lights are arranged in an easy-to-read pnel. baja added more space to the cockpit giving plenty of room to move about at anchor, or you can opt for additional seats just aft the helm and companion seats. the manual drop-away seat bottoms wrap you in safety when racing across the open waters. the aft bench seat now has usable space inside and baja moved the batteries and the water tank to the engine box, leaving the entire bench for storage. in the front of the bench is a drop-down panel with the main breakers and the battery switch conveniently located inside. the side panels sport two stainless drinkholders, more speakers to add to the sound provided from the large speakers in the bench, and some net storage for small items. power plantthe engine hatch doubles as the sun pad. the bench seat headrests serve multiple functions: first as a headrest, of course, then as the sun pad headrest, and finally they add another space for the engine to draw air for better performance. baja stores the anchor light in clips under the sun pad. our boat had an optional engine flush system installed which is really handy and makes storage simple. engine hour meters are in the panel aft the engine. the batteries have diamond-plated steps covering them and courtesy lights on the side panels, which allow you to see what youre doing at night with the lid up. although the 496 mag ho engines filled the space pretty well, there is still enough access to check points. swim platformat the stern, our boat came equipped with the optional extended aluminum swim platform painted to match the color of the boat. this one also included a stern stereo remote, which is handy while cooling off in the water, and we also had the optional swim shower. below deckthe cabin on this high-performance boat is outstanding. first of all, there is a clever finger pocket placed in the sliding door to help keep your digits safe when sliding the door completely open. upon looking inside, the first thing that jumps out is the lack of bulkheads. baja engineers developed a stringer system that integrates the structural support into the hull and gives up the once necessary bulkheads that chop up the interiors.in the peak, this model features a padded raised section with a net across the aft section to store loose items, and keep them in place. below this pad is a deep storage compartment. you have even more storage space behind the seat backs of the benches. just drop the two bars into the pockets in the bench supports and the seat backs lay across to make a full-sized berth for two adults. for the chefthe galley is compact, yet functional. this one featured a tappan microwave oven, stainless steel sink, refrigerator and plenty of room to store kitchen utensils and dishes. the optional dvd player is also located here. across from the galley is the head. baja expanded the head to make it more useful. the dining table stores in a slot across the aft wall and the standard porta-potti can be upgraded to a vacuflush system. performance and ridewith the 425-hp twin engines, we found she cruised most economically at 3000 rpm running 37.2 miles-per-hour with three guys on board. the 35 outlaw topped out turning 5000 rpm at 72.5 miles-per-hour in some healthy chop. if we ran the boat with a little less fuel and only one guy on board, we probably could have pushed 75 miles-per-hour or more. planing times were around 3.4 seconds and she passed 30 mile-per-hour in only 7.1 seconds.if you have enjoyed your baja but needed a little more room or just want to get into the latest, greatest and fastest 35 outlaw on the water, then this new 35 outlaw is waiting for your turn at the wheel. i know you will walk away smiling as did everyone at the dealer meeting. please set your youtube settings to720ph.d. for high quality video of this boat !!! see my other listings for more great items! 2007 baja 35 outlaw -
