overview asteria was built and launched by the greek shipyard anastassiades & tsortanides in 1970 as an ocean-going rescue tug. in 2000/2002 she was converted into a world-class expedition yacht by northport engineering in new zealand. the owner at the time wanted a vessel that he could cruise the world without sacrificing style and luxury. subsequently, she may look tough on the outside but inside she is bright, comfortable, and inviting.
